Hartford Homes is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our award-winning team and help uphold our unrivalled reputation for building exceptional quality homes across the Isle of Man. This is a key full-time role within the business, with responsibility for the commercial management of residential developments from inception through to completion.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing project budgets, cost plans, forecasts and cash flow, while preparing valuations, variations and final accounts. They will procure and manage subcontractor packages, monitor costs, identify commercial risks and opportunities, and produce accurate monthly commercial reports and cost reconciliations. The role also involves managing contractual matters, maintaining comprehensive commercial records, and working closely with site teams to support the successful delivery of projects. Regular liaison with subcontractors, suppliers and consultants will be essential to ensure effective communication and collaboration throughout each development.
Applicants should have proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction or housebuilding industry, supported by strong commercial awareness and cost management skills. Experience in subcontractor procurement and account management, together with a sound understanding of construction contracts and contractual procedures, is essential. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and relationship-building skills, enabling them to work effectively with both site and office teams. They will be organised, proactive and capable of managing multiple priorities, while also having the confidence to communicate tactfully and challenge constructively when required. Competence in Microsoft Excel, a full driving licence, and a commitment to maintaining and fostering strong teamwork are also key requirements for this role.
