Our client seeks an Access Engineer to join their team. You will assist in designing, planning, supervision and management of access network construction, modifications and maintenance. This includes and is not limited to: Duct infrastructure and civil engineering works. Fibre optic system design and build. Permissions, licences, wayleaves and consents. Key Responsibilities: Carry out initial paper and field surveys to determine most economical method to deliver services. Production of scheme paperwork. Work with local authorities including attendance at meetings in relation to networks. Work with and support IOM Core network teams. To co-ordinate with authorities for roadwork's resurfacing works. To obtain permission from property owners to carry out external development work and obtain wayleaves as appropriate. To ensure Line Plant records are maintained regularly and accurately. To resolve customer serving end problems. To provide service information to other service companies to help avoid damage to external plant - Dial B4U Dig. As a member of the wider Engineering Team, to provide advice and support in other areas as required. Understand and comply with the health and safety responsibilities relevant to the role as defined in the safety policy. Undertake appropriate security awareness training. Due to the nature of this position, the postholder must hold a satisfactory basic police disclosure. Key Skills & Experience: Essential: A sound understanding of telecommunications and data delivery methodologies including, IP, Carrier Ethernet, FTTP, VOIP and traditional voice. Experience in fibre splicing internal CSSPs, FDPs, FTTP Splitter Nodes and internal customer panels. Experience in fibre splicing external Prysmian LMJ and MMJ nodes. Experience in internal cabling in MDU and single premises installs with INTEX and Invizi cable. Experience in external cabling via the UG network installing fibre drop cables and backbone 144/288 fibre cable. Desirable: Skilled in the use of OTDR for fault finding, the use of Fibre Optic Loss meters and VFL.Install of Cisco, Adva and Metrodata NTE products at customers premises. Experience of fibre patching through ODFs and Core node infrastructure. Road Works Guarding TrainedCAT Avoidance with Cat and Genny. Good communication skills both written and verbal.Diligence and attention to detail are key skills along with ability to multi-task and prioritise work appropriately. A cheerful and optimistic attitude to work. Good interpersonal skills with both internal and external customers. Calm and controlled under pressure. You may be required to join a mandatory Standby rota in the future. When it is your turn to be on mandatory standby you must then respond accordingly to any call-outs as required for which appropriate payments will be made.
