Our client seeks a Second Line Engineer to join their team. As a Second Line Engineer, you are a senior member of the Operations Team with responsibilities for the maintenance both internal systems and customers. Daily tasks will range from maintaining and upgrading existing communications, cloud and security infrastructure through to the design and installation of new systems. Specific projects will vary depending on the sector and type of business within which the work is being carried out. Key Responsibilities: Design and deploy functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN)Configure and install software, servers, routers and other network devices. Monitor network performance and integrity. Resolve issues 1st Line Engineers have escalated. Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness. Mentor team members on technical issues and developments. Create, oversee and test security measures (e.g. access authentication and disaster recovery)Maintain complete technical documentation. Suggest improvements to network performance, capacity and scalability. Provide 'Pre-Sales' technical consultancy to the Sales team. Develop new and existing product portfolio offerings. Participate in an on-call rota scheme. Key Skills and Experience: Networking - Cisco CCNA / CCNP / CCIE - Juniper JNCP / JNCIE. Security - CEH / CISSP / CISSM. 5+ Years experience in a system architecture, design and implementation role. Strong 'ISP' network related skill set i.e. OSPF/ISIS/BGP/MPLS/VXLan/SDN WAN. Virtualisation platforms - Desirable. Cloud services IaaS / SaaS (S3/NFS/iSCSI/Gluster/CEPH) / S(oft)aaS - Desirable. Containerisation (Docker / LXT / Kubernettes) - Desirable. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong work ethic with excellent customer service. An interest in learning about current/new/future technologies. Ability to take ownership of a task or project to see it through to completion and to exceed expectations whenever possible. To be self-motivated and a contributing member of the team. Strong problem solving and analytical skills. Ability to manage/prioritise workloads to ensure tasks are completed to a customers' satisfaction and meet Service Level Agreements. Ability to work under pressure.
