Trainee - Overhead Lines Person

Carry out all work in conjunction with the construction, maintenance and repair of overhead lines and any associated plant and equipment, connections and earthing.
Patrol overhead lines and report defects and any work being performed in the vicinity of the line route.
Carry out work on live LV apparatus, conductors or equipment as required.
Carry out work on overhead lines up to and including HV.
Erect, examine, maintain and repair substation overhead bus-bars and connections.
Remove and replace links and fuses as required.
Maintain and use test equipment, meters and instruments and records the readings.
Undertake cable terminations and joints.
Erect and inspect pre-formed scaffolds.
Drive vehicles, carry out the daily maintenance tasks and routine roadworthiness checks specified for the vehicle and report any defects.
Operate communications/data transmission equipment.
Operate and maintain tools, equipment and PPE in accordance with training and instruction provided.
Switch, Isolate and Earth on the LV network.
Receive / Clear Safety Documents for which you are authorised in writing.
Undertake / assist with fault finding investigations on the network.
Maintain / complete accurate network records as required.
Assess risks and take necessary precautions prior to setting self and/or others to work.
Adhere to all relevant procedures, instructions, standards and guidance.
Undertake training as required and assist with training and coaching of others.
Liaise with customers, suppliers and third parties.
Connect, disconnect, remove, re-site & test MUA installations as necessary.
Plant and machinery operator.
Switch, Isolate and Earth on the HV network.
Carry out tree felling and tree trimming.
Undertake Cable laying, including excavations, backfill and reinstatement.
Provide supervision of external contractors.
Assists in resistance, thermal and height measurements on O/H lines.
Inspects, maintains and repair boundary and security fencing, cleans and tidy’s outdoor s/s and carries out associated gardening duties.
