Onchan District Commissioners are seeking a reliable, hardworking and motivated Refuse Operative to join their Environmental Services team. This is an active, outdoor role that plays a vital part in maintaining the cleanliness and environmental standards of our community. You will work as part of a team collecting domestic, commercial and public waste throughout the district. You will assist with the safe and efficient operation of refuse collection services while helping to maintain a clean and attractive environment for residents and visitors. You will be required to wear and maintain the uniform and personal protective equipment provided, ensuring a professional appearance and high standard of service to the public. The role is physically demanding and involves working outdoors in all weather conditions, requiring a flexible approach and a commitment to delivering high standards of public service. Essential Requirements include: Hold a full and valid driving licence; Being physically fit and capable of undertaking demanding manual work, including lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling wheeled bins, and walking considerable distances throughout the working day; Being comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and occasionally in challenging environments; Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills; Be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; Remain calm, professional and effective when working under pressure; Demonstrate a positive, reliable and flexible approach to work; The ability to work well as part of a team and build positive working relationships with colleagues, residents and other stakeholders.
