Street Sweeper Driver / Environmental Operative

Onchan District Commissioners are looking for a reliable, motivated and hardworking Street Sweeper Driver/Environmental Operative to join their Environmental Services team. You will carry out a range of manual and mechanical cleansing duties across the district. Your work will include operating street sweeping vehicles, maintaining public spaces, responding to environmental issues such as litter, fly tipping and dog fouling, assisting with drainage and seasonal maintenance, and supporting other operational teams when required. Working both independently and as part of a team, you will help ensure the district remains clean, safe and welcoming throughout the year. The role is physically demanding and involves working outdoors in all weather conditions, requiring a flexible approach and a commitment to delivering high standards of public service. Essential requirements include: Possess a full clean driving licence including Category C1; have excellent interpersonal and communication skills; the ability to undertake physically demanding outdoor work; possess a basic understanding of health and safety requirements; have a positive, reliable and self-motivated approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team; be physically fit and able to work in all weather conditions.
