LVW Law Limited is seeking a Legal Research Assistant to join our busy and friendly legal practice in Port Erin.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong interest in law who enjoys research, analysing information and producing clear, accurate written work.
The successful candidate will provide research support to the firm and its lawyers across a range of legal matters. Duties will include:
Conducting legal research across a variety of areas of law;
Researching Isle of Man legislation, Rules of Court, case law and other legal authorities;
Assisting with the preparation of legal arguments, opinions, correspondence and Court documents;
Reviewing and summarising legislation, judgments and other legal materials;
Identifying relevant authorities and presenting research findings clearly and concisely;
Assisting with the preparation of case files, bundles and other legal documentation;
Keeping up to date with developments in legislation, case law and legal procedure;
Providing general support to the legal team as required.
We are looking for someone who is:
Highly organised and able to manage competing priorities;
An excellent researcher with strong attention to detail;
Confident reading and interpreting legal material;
Able to analyse information and identify the key issues;
A strong written and verbal communicator;
Comfortable working independently while also being part of a team;
Discreet and professional when dealing with confidential information;
IT literate and able to learn and use legal research and case management systems.
A law degree, legal qualification or previous experience within a legal environment would be advantageous, although applications from candidates with relevant research, academic or professional experience will also be considered.
