Sous Chef

Ambitions Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting a Sous Chef on behalf of a locally owned and locally run care provider . Reporting to the Head Chef, you will play a key role in supporting the kitchen team to create nutritious, flavoursome, and well-balanced menus for residents to a consistently high standard.

Day to day, you will prepare a varied range of meals and snacks, catering confidently for residents with specific dietary requirements. Working closely with healthcare staff, you will ensure meals are prepared to the correct consistency for those with swallowing difficulties, without compromising on taste or presentation. You will also make sure drinks and snacks are readily available between meals, take responsibility for stock ordering as needed, and help maintain a clean, tidy, hygienic, and safe kitchen environment at all times. High standards of infection prevention and control will be maintained throughout, and you will take part in regulatory audits and annual appraisals as required, along with any other duties commensurate with the role.

The ideal candidate will hold a City & Guilds 7061/2 qualification (or equivalent) in culinary skills, along with a current Food Hygiene Certificate and good literacy and numeracy skills. You will bring strong time management skills, the ability to stay calm under pressure, and a solid working knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation. Some experience catering for the dietary needs of older people would be desirable, and you will be a reliable, responsible team player, comfortable working within agreed budgets.

This is a full-time role working 44 hours per week, 7.30am to 7.30pm with a one-hour lunch break, with eligibility for overtime. Salary is commensurate with experience.
