Adult Learning Disability Activity Coordinator

Manx Mencap, established in 1968, is dedicated to empowering the learning disability community in the Isle of Man. Committed to supporting individuals and their families, we strive to improve the lives of those with learning disabilities, through education, advocacy, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Management- Identify activities and events for Adults with a learning disabilities. Conduct risk assessments and communicate relevant safety information to Families and or /Carers. Create and manage sign-up mechanisms for events (email; text - Jotform; Eventbrite).

Stakeholder Engagement- Collaborate with partner organisations to develop and nurture strong partnerships. Schedule events tailored to the needs of our community.

Social Media Outreach - Promote events and activities on social media and via email lists. Grow and strengthen our online community of followers.

Community Outreach- Attend, support and facilitate events (share relevant instructions and safety reminders; troubleshoot issues that may arise; solicit feedback directly from service users and their families and carers; ongoing oversight of what does and doesn’t work).

Data Analysis- Collect and analyse data to measure the impact and effectiveness of our programs and services. Make data-driven recommendations for improvements. Fulfil reporting responsibilities to the Manx Lottery Trust and to the Arts Council.

Other administrative duties-

Perform other administrative duties as required.

Assist monitoring and responding to incoming communications (phone, email, Facebook).

Create content for social media (updates, events, relevant info, social media campaigns).

Support coordination of charity events (annual summer picnic, local collaborative events etc).

Cover regular office opening hours in absence of charity Secretary.

Liaise with other charity staff.

Secure, issue and monitor subsidised theatre tickets for adults with learning disabilities (and their families) in partnership with the IOM Arts Council and VillaGaiety.

Qualifications and experience-

Relevant qualifications in a related field.

Experience working with individuals with learning disabilities or in a similar community engagement role.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Sound analytical and problem-solving skills.

Commitment to the mission and values of the charity.

Additional Information-

This is initially a part-time role, with the potential for additional hours.

Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.

An enhanced DBS check will be required for this role.
