Chief Legal Officer

Our client seeks a Chief Legal Officer to join their team. Reporting directly to the Group CEO, this role provides strategic and hands on legal support across the Company's gaming and digital operations. You will play a key role in a fast-paced and evolving organisation, contributing directly to legal strategy, governance, and compliance across the business. This is a broad, senior position offering significant exposure to complex legal matters and the opportunity to influence decision-making at executive and board level. Key Responsibilities: Act as a trusted legal adviser to senior stakeholders across the business. Provide legal advice on gaming and sportsbook regulatory requirements. Draft, review, and negotiate complex and high-value commercial agreements, including service, supplier, and marketing contracts. Proactively identify, assess and manage legal risk across the organisation. Lead and instruct external counsel, including commissioning and implementing legal opinions on regulatory matters, and will oversee legal disputes. Coordinating closely with external advisors and preparing case materials as required. Support the legal and regulatory governance framework, including policies, procedures, and internal controls. Supporting product development initiatives. Advising on intellectual property and corporate structuring. Licensing and regulatory compliance for existing jurisdictions and legal research and analysis in new and proposed jurisdictions. Support internal audits, regulatory reviews and license applications or renewals. Managing the legal function. Working closely with compliance and data protection teams, providing legal input on matters requiring cross-functional collaboration. Act as a key legal point of contact for regulators, external counsel and regulatory advisors as required. Takes end to end responsibility for legal matters and delivers to agreed deadlines. Key Skills & Experience: A qualified lawyer with 7-10 years post qualification experience, including in house exposure, in a regulated industry, ideally within sportsbook or gaming sector. A proven track record of operating at a senior level, influencing executive teams and board members. Strong understanding of gaming and sportsbook regulation within a regulated multi-jurisdictional environment. Sound commercial acumen with the ability to balance legal risk with commercial objectives making sound judgement and ethical decision making. Strong communicates skills with the ability to communicate complex legal issues clearly and credibly. Acts with professionalism, discretion and independence upholding regulatory standards. Experience and detailed knowledge of: Commercial - Contracts and Agreements, M&A, and Governance / Intellectual Property and Corporate Structuring / Data Protection and Information / Security & Regulation and Compliance.
