Works Operative / HGV Driver

We are looking for a reliable and proactive Multi-Skilled Operative to support the delivery of essential environmental and public works services across Ramsey Town. This varied, hands-on role includes street cleaning, litter collection, maintenance of parks, housing areas, beaches and public spaces, as well as assisting with signage, car parks, and general upkeep. You will also support refuse collection services, operate vehicles and equipment (training provided), and help ensure all areas are safe, clean and well maintained.

The role involves working outdoors in all conditions and contributing to key activities such as event set-up (including TT and seasonal events), additional cleaning and waste services, and responding to adverse weather by assisting with flooding, gritting, and safety measures. You will be expected to work safely at all times, carry out routine vehicle and equipment checks, and work collaboratively across teams as required.

The ideal candidate will be practical, flexible and team-oriented, with a strong work ethic and willingness to undertake a wide range of duties. A full, valid HGV driving licence is essential.

We are seeking someone with experience in general labouring activities and safe working practices, who is physically fit and able to carry out manual tasks in all weather conditions. Strong communication skills, a good understanding of health and safety, and the ability to follow instructions are essential. Desirable qualifications include relevant certifications such as pesticide use and chainsaw operation, along with experience using machinery, tools, or driving plant equipment. A positive attitude, reliability, and the ability to work well within a team are key to success in this role.
