We are looking for a passionate, forward-thinking full-time Chef/Cook to work alongside our Head Chef at Vibe, a multi award-winning plant based café and restaurant in Douglas. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is genuinely passionate about food, creativity, seasonality and plant based cooking, and who wants to further their career in a kitchen where innovation, freedom and customer connection are at the heart of everything we do.

Our Head Chef is a double award-winning plant based chef, winning the Isle of Man Manx Menu award two years running, alongside accolades for innovation and creativity. We want someone to join the team who is excited and passionate about what can be achieved with plant based food.

By day, Vibe is a vibrant café serving creative brunches & nourishing lunches. You will use the mornings to check in deliveries, prepare dish ingredients from scratch, cook from recipes and set up the kitchen for service, then cook to order during Lunch service. We close for a break then reopen for dinner. Afternoons are for prep and restocking. By night, the café transforms into an intimate restaurant space offering a seasonal small plates menu designed for a relaxed tapas-style dining experience. Dishes are made fresh to order and fired out throughout the evening, allowing guests to build their own tasting menu experience and enjoy food at their own pace. Closed Sunday evenings, Mondays and Tuesdays.

Our menus change every two months and are heavily inspired by the seasons, local produce and foraged ingredients. We are passionate about pickling, fermenting, dehydrating and preserving ingredients throughout the year to maximise flavour and minimise waste. We work closely with local farms and growers, and we are incredibly lucky to also have our own rooftop garden filled with edible flowers, herbs and fresh ingredients used throughout our food and cocktail menus.

THE ROLE
We are looking for someone who:
Has a genuine passion for plant based food and modern cooking. Is creative, enthusiastic and career driven. Is consistent, has attention to detail and good plating presentation skills. Loves working with seasonal ingredients and flavour-led cooking. Is organised, fast and confident working unsupervised. Can confidently manage their own prep and service section. Thrives in a small close-knit team environment. Is willing to work split shifts. Wants to contribute ideas and continue learning and evolving.

This is a multitasking role within a very small and intimate kitchen team. We are looking for someone who understands that small independent hospitality is hard work but incredibly rewarding. None of us are afraid of getting our hands dirty and doing whatever needs to be done to achieve our goals. Chefs are responsible for washing their own utensils and pots during service and the front of house handles the containers, boards and dishwasher support throughout the day.
