A Traffic Management Operative is responsible for setting up, maintaining, and removing temporary traffic management systems to ensure the safe movement of vehicles and pedestrians around roadworks or events. This includes placing signs, cones, barriers, and temporary traffic lights in accordance with legal and safety guidelines. The role often involves working in all weather conditions and at unsociable hours, including nights and weekends, to minimize disruption to traffic flow. Operatives are expected to follow strict health and safety protocols and respond quickly to any incidents or changes in traffic conditions.
Key skills required for this role include good communication, attention to detail, physical fitness, and the ability to work as part of a team. An understanding of road safety and the ability to follow detailed instructions are also essential.
