About Us:
Woodbourne Dental is a modern and well-established dental practice in Douglas, Isle of Man, committed to providing top-quality dental care in a friendly and professional environment. We are seeking a dedicated and organised Dental Nurse to join our team.
Job Purpose:
To provide chairside support to dental professionals while delivering excellent patient care and progressing towards a recognised dental nursing qualification.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the dentist during a variety of treatments, including routine check-ups, fillings, and surgical procedures.
Set up and clean down surgeries before and after each patient in accordance with infection prevention and control protocols.
Ensure all equipment is sterilised and safe for use, following infection control procedures.
Prepare and maintain the clinical environment, including instruments and materials.
Perform intraoral scanning under supervision, aiding with digital impressions and workflow for orthodontic, restorative, or cosmetic treatments.
Deliver excellent patient care and support, ensuring a comfortable and welcoming experience.
Accurately record patient details, procedures, and notes as directed by the dentist, including maintaining logbooks.
Ensure that patient confidentiality is always maintained.
Adhere to all CQC, GDPR, and health and safety guidelines.
Attend off-site or online training as part of the dental nurse qualification.
Participate in the wider team effort, including reception duties or assisting other nurses and clinicians as needed.
Stay updated with current dental best practices and maintain CPD in line with GDC requirements (qualified nurses) or training program guidelines (trainees).
Essential Requirements:
A genuine interest in dental healthcare and patient welfare.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Willingness to enrol in and complete an accredited dental nursing qualification.
Professional appearance and attitude.
Ability to follow instructions and work under pressure.
Must be a resident on IOM or have a valid working permit.
Desirable but not essential:
Previous experience in a healthcare or customer service role.
Knowledge of basic dental terminology.
Familiarity with dental software (e.g. SOE, R4) is a plus.
Training and Development:
Full support provided to complete a National Diploma in Dental Nursing (NEBDN) or equivalent qualification.
On-the-job training with experienced dental staff.
