The role involves prepping ingredients for dishes, washing and slicing fruit and vegetables, and cooking ingredients according to directions received from the Chef. Responsibilities include keeping all pots, pans, and kitchen utensils clean and in order, managing store rooms and cold rooms, and preparing residents' food trays and trollies. The kitchen area, floors, and corridors must be maintained in a clean and orderly condition, while ensuring high standards of food hygiene, health, and safety. The post holder must comply with all Health and Safety policies and procedures, including the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH), and undertake other duties as required or directed by the Chef or Head Chef.
