  • Manx Birdlife

Manx BirdLife is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to support the day-to-day management of the Manx BirdLife Point of Ayre National Reserve, with occasional support at the Manx BirdLife Langness Reserve when required. This is well suited to someone passionate about nature conservation, community engagement, and practical reserve management.
Working closely with the Reserve Manager, the successful candidate will assist with practical management across both reserves, including habitat and infrastructure management. The role will also involve supporting and undertaking a range of ecological monitoring activities such as breeding bird surveys, WeBS counts, and invertebrate and fungi surveys. You will be responsible for managing reserve volunteers, including the recruitment of new volunteers, and will take the lead on key areas of reserve administration, including entering WeBS data onto the BTO portal.
The postholder will assist with the planning and delivery of reserve-based engagement events and will contribute to communications that help raise the profile of both reserves and the wider work of Manx BirdLife. This will include drafting content for social media, writing articles for newsletters, and contributing material for the Manx BirdLife website.
Applicants should have experience of working on nature reserves and carrying out a range of land management techniques. A passion for connecting people with the environment and a willingness to share wildlife knowledge is essential, along with experience of planning and delivering engagement events for a variety of audiences and managing volunteers and community relationships. Experience of carrying out surveys for a range of taxa, particularly birds, and small-scale project management experience would be advantageous but are not essential.
The role is flexible, with a minimum commitment of three days per week. Working hours will be agreed with the successful candidate.
