SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential
Educated to Degree level or equivalent (CIPD Level 5).
Relevant experience in an HR environment providing generalist advice and support.
Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively at all levels and with a range of stakeholders.
Strong attention to detail, with strong organisational and time management skills .
Ability and commitment to improving HR services though continuous improvement.
An understanding of the statutory framework, policies and service including knowledge of and ability to interpret and advise on employment legislation and potential implications.
Collaborative team player with a high standard of interpersonal skills, ability to deal with sensitive issues, confidential matters and manage expectations and conflicting priorities/interests.
Ability to act on own initiative in a pressurised environment and make difficult decisions.
Proven ability to prepare correspondence, report and compile information to a high standard.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word/Excel.
Desirable
Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
Understanding of local government environment.
An understanding of the operations and functions of a local authority.
Knowledge of the Council’s Standing Orders, Financial Regulations and the Isle of Man Government Procedures for Capital Projects (including requirements for Petitioning purposes).
Political sensitivity.
