Qualified Accountant and Compliance Lead. You will be working for a well-established Isle of Man accountancy practice working primarily with local owner managed businesses and individuals, with a client base which is straightforward, with occasional UK links and no complex or international structures. Our client looks for a Qualified Accountant who can also act as a practical compliance lead within the firm. This role is focused on applying and maintaining good compliance standards in day to day work. You will combine hands on accounting and tax work with oversight of client onboarding, AML processes and file quality. Key Responsibilities: Accounting and Client Work. Prepare and review year end accounts for sole traders and limited companies. Prepare Isle of Man personal and corporate tax returns. Prepare and review VAT returns. Review bookkeeping and supporting records. Manage a portfolio of established Isle of Man clients. Deal with client queries in a clear, practical manner. Oversee client onboarding including KYC AML and risk assessments. Ensure AML CFT and sanctions procedures are followed consistently. Review and maintain compliance files. Carry out periodic client file reviews. Identify and escalate any unusual or higher risk matters. Support the firm's existing compliance framework. Review work prepared by other team members. Ensure consistent standards across files. Maintain clear working papers and audit trails. Assist with keeping internal policies and procedures up to date. Support deadlines and workflow management. Provide guidance and support to other staff. Answer technical and compliance related queries. Promote a culture of accuracy, consistency and good practice. Key Skills and Experience: Experience working in an accountancy practice. Strong understanding of Isle of Man accounting and tax. Practical compliance experience including AML and KYC. Confident reviewing accounts, tax returns and files. Experience with cloud accounting software such as Xero. Excellent attention to detail and organisation. Comfortable working across both Peel and Ramsey offices. AAT ACCA or ACA qualified or qualified by experience. Experience carrying out file reviews. Previous involvement in compliance processes within a practice. Practical and level-headed approach. Comfortable working with straightforward client structures. Takes ownership of work and standards. Approachable and supportive with colleagues. Values doing things properly without unnecessary complexity.
