Ronaldsway Aircraft Company is a complex aerospace machining business, manufacturing mainly strangers and aliens for both civil and military customers. Ronaldsway has a large variety of processes, including CNC machining, electroplating, heat treatment, metal finishing, paint, tool room and press shop.

Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer this is a very exciting opportunity. Due to the nature of the role and presence required, the successful candidate will be based on the Isle of Man site at Ronaldsway 4 – 5 days per week.

The General Manager will play a pivotal role in delivering transformational financial and operational performance targets, leading change, creating a high-performing and empowering culture. In addition will drive accountability and ownership, achieving best in class customers focus and enduring that the people (circa. 200) are developed. This is via mentoring, coaching and preparing successors so they achieve their professional goals and are the best that they can be.

Proven track record of leadership in a SME manufacturing organisation (£30m - £50M turnover), ideally in a precision engineering or advanced manufacturing environment in the aerospace or defence sector.
Successfully delivered a business transformation which brought significant business results.
Supports and champions the people agenda – developing, coaching and mentoring emerging talent. Whilst ensuring key roles are clearly defined in line with company strategy and staffed by capable, motivated individuals, evidenced through engagement scores.
Cultural fit - self-aware and honest; an inclusive leader who is focused on values and behaviours and builds teams by creating an enabling culture.
Financial acumen, with the ability to manage budgets, forecasts and financial performance.
Customer focus - Builds out-standing customer relationships, with a track record of dealing directly with OEM customers, engaging in complex issues and stakeholder environments.
Strong continuous improvement background to understand root cause of failures and implementing sustainable solutions.
Lean manufacturing – 6 Sigma and financial management certification would be a distinct advantage.
Demonstrates strong gravitas and high levels of resilience.
Authentic results-based leadership style with excellent interpersonal skills, self-starting and takes the initiative to deliver exceptional results.
Highly developed presentation and communication skills; ability to condense complex issues into succinct messages for both internal and external communication.
An energetic, multitask leader, with an “appreciation of getting things done”. Adept at dealing with competing priorities and deadlines. Comfortable with a high degree of ambiguity and embraces change.
