General Sales Manager

**Job Summary**
The Sales Manager is responsible for leading the New and Used Car Sales teams within a fast-paced, multi-franchise retail environment. The role involves developing and agreeing sales plans and budgets, managing resources efficiently, and ensuring the achievement of sales, marketing, and financial targets. The Sales Manager oversees all sales operations, provides leadership and training to the team, and ensures that administrative processes and company policies are followed to support the smooth running of the department.

**Key Responsibilities**
Develop and agree sales plans and budgets covering new cars, used cars, accessories, F&I products, value-added products, overheads, and related areas to achieve all sales and financial targets.
Agree sales volumes and forecasts, develop operating expenses and capital budgets, and communicate plans to the Sales Team to ensure full commitment and motivation.
Supervise and coordinate activities of the Sales Team to maximise direct selling time and ensure effective handling of all sales activities.
Ensure optimum allocation of effort by sales staff to support achievement of departmental goals.
Develop and interpret company policies for the team and resolve related issues efficiently.
Create and agree commission and motivation plans to support the achievement of sales targets.
Provide guidance, coaching, and training to improve sales performance, with focus on prospecting, customer follow-up, sales presentations, closing techniques, time management, product knowledge, and use of sales tools.
Recommend and initiate personnel actions including recruitment, promotion, discipline, transfer, or dismissal when required.
Establish and maintain administrative procedures and records to ensure efficient business handling, including prospect management, follow-up call logs, meeting schedules, sales analyses, and trading policies.
Ensure optimum utilisation of material, financial, and personnel resources to achieve targets and support effective daily operations.


**Person Specification and Experience Required**
Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop sales staff.
Proven experience in automotive sales management, with a strong track record in achieving sales and financial targets.
Excellent communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
Strong organisational and planning abilities, with an analytical mindset to interpret sales data and forecasts.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, target-driven retail environment.
Strong commercial awareness with knowledge of new and used car markets, F&I products, and value-added offerings.
Professional, proactive, and confident, with a customer-focused approach.
